Netflix is undoubtedly the leading player in the online entertainment industry. It’s not only a hugely popular service, but it has also become part of pop culture. It’s seen as an activity, and “watching Netflix” has replaced the term “watching TV” for many people. They have revolutionized how people consume television.

With the meteoric rise of the on-demand streaming industry, we are beginning to see some other serious players emerge. Although Netflix is still at the top, there are some fantastic alternative options.

A common complaint from Netflix users is that they feel like they’ve watched everything. Although this is unlikely to be true, perhaps they’ve watched everything that they wanted to. If this sounds like you, don’t worry. You’re in luck.

Here are some alternative entertainment services for when you’ve finished everything on Netflix, including some you might not have heard of.

Disney Plus

Disney launched some of its original marvel shows and movies on Netflix. Since launching Disney Plus, these have become exclusive to their streaming service.

If you’re after nostalgia or you want to entertain the kids, the Pixar and National Geographic content are perfect. Disney Plus is also the home for all Star Wars based content.

At a reasonable price point, Disney Plus is a great option that is set to grow significantly in the coming years.

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime offers something different with its streaming service. As well as a quality catalog of content, including HBO material, you get premium shopping features too.

If you are a keen online shopper, the content and pricing structure for Amazon Prime Video are big selling points.



Although it’s not necessarily like-for-like, Kodi is an excellent option if you’re after a more in-depth entertainment service. Kodi operates using third-party plug-ins and can stream live TV and music.

Although it is highly functional, Kodi can come across complicated if you’re used to the ease of operating Netflix. However, this complex nature is due to the flexibility of the service. If you’re interested in technology, it could be your best option.

Crackle is a streaming service owned by Sony, that provides full length, uncut movies, and TV shows. It’s free and doesn’t require registration to use. However, there are mandatory adverts.

Although the content list is limited, they continue to grow and add titles quite regularly. The content list is mainly comprised of Sony and Columbia licensed titles, but they also have some originals.

If you are on a tight budget, Crackle is a great free option.

Apple TV Plus

Apple has invested a billion dollars in original content for its streaming service. Although many of these titles haven’t arrived on our screens just yet, there is a lot of anticipation surrounding them.

The Apple TV Plus app is compatible with your iTunes account, making regular purchases and rentals through iTunes easily accessible.

At a relatively low price point, Apple TV Plus has some great content on their catalogue, and potentially greater original series and movies to come.
