Sharing is caring!

I know I have probably said it a thousand times, but I love what I do. As the Senior Community Manager for Ford Canada, I get to attend a lot of events and meet many people. It can be anything from attending a local car rally and meeting owners in our community to going to an event and meeting pop stars.

01 WE DAY GO TRAIN

My first We Day

On Thursday, October 2nd, I got to attend We Day in Toronto with Ford Canada.

02 WE DAY ME AT GO

I headed to the GO Station early in the morning. I was so excited to attend an event that I had heard so many wonderful things about.

03 WE DAY PIC OF TORONTO

Arriving in Toronto

It was cool and foggy in Toronto. The view of the CN Tower from Union Station awesome…

04 WE DAY CN TOWER

There was already quite a few people at the Air Canada Centre, waiting in line to get in.

05 WE DAY OUTSIDE GATE 5

Sobeys, one of the sponsors for We Day, was doing a charity activation outside of gate 5.

06 WE DAY SOBEYS CROWD

I met up with Anson, one of my Toronto-based community managers, outside of Gate 5. We lined up with hundreds of others in the “Honoured Guest” line.

Heading to our Suite

Once inside, we checked in and received our passes.

07 WE DAY ME WITH PASS

We headed up to the suite and had our first glimpse of the arena.

08 WE DAY ME IN FRONT OF STAGE

The We Day set up at the Air Canada Centre was amazing! So many lights, different shaped stages, and the backdrop had many screens. Our suite was off to the side, but we still had a great view of the stage.

09 WE DAY STAGE AREA

We Day Toronto

The event kicked off at 8:45am. The crowd was loud, and everyone seemed so excited to be there.

I hadn’t seen that much energy at an event… ever!

There were so many special guests. Lots of youth telling their stories of how they do something every day to change lives, both locally and internationally. I was surrounded buy heroes.

Neverest debuts “Someday”

The boys from Neverest were performing. I was pretty excited to hear their new song “Someday”. I heard them perform “Starlight” for the first time at Ford headquarters in Oakville, and was instantly a fan. When I got home that day, I downloaded the song from iTunes and played it. When my girls heard the song, they asked for it to be put on their iPods. Now, they listen to the song all the time.

The new song was awesome! You can download a copy of the new song on iTunes.

Space Oddity

When lunch time came, we were asked if we wanted to head down to the Chairman’s Lounge for lunch, and to meet some guests. We had already been served lunch, so I wasn’t all that hungry, but I was interested in seeing who the guests were.

Well… then this happened.

10 WE DAY CHRIS HADFIELD

I met Colonel Chris Hadfield. What an amazing experience! I figured everyone would walk up to him and say how cool it was to meet him. It was cool meeting him,, but I wanted to make an impact… so I walked up to him and sang “Ground control to Major Tom”. He laughed, and then sang back to me “Commencing countdown engines on”. I laughed, and then took a selfie with him. Chris talked and took pictures with everyone in the line.

My brush with Royalty

After meeting Colonel Chris Hadfield, I was introduced to the second guest…

11 WE DAY QUEEN NOOR

Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan. Wow, was she ever nice! For a woman of royalty, she was so down to earth and spoke with everyone. She thanked me for being there, and was happy to take a selfie with me!

Marc and Craig Kielburger

After meeting Colonel Hadfield and Queen Noor, we headed back to our suite. Just before we arrived back, Craig Kielburger walked by. He shook my hand and thanked me for being there.

12 WE DAY CRAIG AND CRAIG

Marc Kielburger visited our suite to thank us all for coming… during the event!

13 WE DAY ME AND MARC

Mark stuck around for a while, taking pictures with all the Ford employees and families. I got this one of him with Dianne Craig, President and CEO of Ford Canada.

14 WE DAY MARC AND DIANNE

Drivers of Change

Ford Canada had a booth set up which allowed the attendees to participate in a trivia challenge.

15 WE DAY FORD GIRLS

Each participant received a pair of Ford sunglasses and was given a personalized commemorative We Day license.

Here is Anson posing for his picture…

And here is my finished license and We Day pass…

17 WE DAY MY PASS

More than I expected!

If your children get the opportunity to attend a We Day, tell them not to pass it up. It is emotional, inspirational and motivating.
