Bali certainly isn’t only about beaches and drinking cheaply. There is so much more on offer, that it even makes a great destinations for families that have a case of the wanderlust. Stunning Geological Wonders

If you think that Bali is only about beaches, then you are very much mistaken. Although it is an island, there are only certain parts of the island that have good beaches. The more northern parts of the island are covered in vegetation and are more like a jungle, so between the two extremes, there is plenty to see along the way. If you like to experience something a little different, the Bali is certainly the place for that. There are several active volcanoes on the island, which makes for an interesting landscape. Not to mention the waterfalls, mountains, and rice terrains. There is even a secret canyon in Sukawati and things like the Bukit Teletubbies on Nusa Penida to the Melasti beach. With such a variety, you will be amazed by the striking beauty of these spectacular geological wonders.

Unique Accommodation

Because the island varies so much, so does the choice of accommodation that you can choose from. There are luxury resorts in coastal regions like Nusa Dua, for example, but you can really experience some unique and wonderful other places to stay. Bamboo houses, treetop villas, as well as cliff top villas are all on offer, whether you’re ‘doing it for the gram’ or not. With sites like https://www.airdna.co/top/id/bali and https://www.rumah.com/apartemen/dijual, you can really see the types of accommodation available and the prices that you would be looking at. There is definitely something for everyone, though.

Water Sports

Whether you are a big adrenaline junkie or not, there are so many options for you to choose from when it comes to water sports; there are so many to do in Bali! The main water sports in the area are on the south of the island near to the Nusa Dua area. You can just stick with some regular surfing at the bigger beaches, or relax with some more calm paddleboarding in the smaller cove areas. But you can also enjoy some more extreme water sports like flyboarding, canyoning, and cliff-jumping. So there is a little something for everyone and all tastes. With it being an island, you’ve got to make the most of the water, right?

Rich Culture

Bali is also a place that is rich with culture. Although the country of Indonesia is predominantly an Islamic country, the island of Bali is majority Hindu. So with that, comes some unique traditions and experiences. For starters, some of the things that you will notice right away are that there are places that look like temples all over the place. But the truth is that they are actually houses! Pretty much all homes have a shrine or small temple within their grounds, where the family can pray and make an offering each day. And the offerings are also something that you will notice everywhere that you go, as they are found near doorways or homes and shops. They tend to be banana leaf folded into a box, filled with incense, flowers, and dried petals. Something really unique and interesting to look at and spot on your travels.

There are, of course, the actual temples themselves, which have large grounds and plenty of space to wander around. You have to cover up when visiting a temple so it is a great way to immerse yourself into the culture. Aside from these things, though, there are actually some pretty fascinating festivals that happen in Bali too, and some unique traditions. Kissing festival or chasing dragons down the street, anyone?

Fun for Families

If some family fun is what you are after, then there is no reason why Bali can’t be on your list of places to go. There is so much for families, and the Balinese people are so lovely with children. For starters, there are plenty of attractions for families. A lot of them are located in the Ubud area of Bali, and they range from the Money Forest, to the Bali Zoo, Bali Marine Park, and Bird World. There is also a water park called Waterbom, which is said to be one of the largest and most extreme water parks in Asia. There is also a really nice turtle conservation area (not to mistaken with Turtle Island), where you can see and feed rescued turtles, as well as hold the newly hatched turtles. You can even adopt one and release it into the sea.

While this list is not exhaustive, I hope it gives some insight into why Bali can make a great vacation destination, for families, solo travelers, or couples alike. The weather is pretty much lovely all year round too, so there isn’t a bad time to visit.
