This lighthouse stands at approximately 40 feet tall and was fully restored in 2009. Pinder Point Lighthouse truly provides a beautiful backdrop for photos that will linger long after the sun has set on Freeport’s magnificent waters.

The boat ride from Grand Bahama to Sandy Cay may be a bit choppy, but it is fully worth it. I was initially quite scared, but I listened carefully to Keith’s instructions and stood at a safe distance. One swam right up to me and brushed my leg. It was surreal!

The People-To-People Programme in Grand Bahama is an interactive initiative that brings together the local and international community. We got to experience an incredible Bahamian breakfast hosted by Collete Williams, one of the many People-To-People Ambassadors in Grand Bahama. We dined on freshly baked Johnny cake and Johnny bread, stew fish, chicken souse, and Fire Engine (canned corned beef sautéed with tomato paste and diced veggies, served with grits). We washed it down with refreshing homemade iced hibiscus tea and iced butterfly pea tea. The meal was incredible!

This mutually beneficial venture not only reinforces the strong connection between the visitor and the local but also helps develop the area into an attractive tourist destination where visitors come to experience its rich history, vibrant culture, diverse communities, and pristine beaches while creating cherished memories with friends old and new. It’s the perfect way to deepen relationships between diverse people. This experience was the best part of my visit to Grand Bahama and I highly recommend this programme to anyone visiting the Bahamas.
