There is no shortage of dining options in Dominica. From roadside eateries to resort restaurants, Dominica has it all. Depending on where you are, and what you feel like spending, there are a lot of options.
On our recent trip to Dominica, we dined at resorts, roadside eateries, food stands, and even enjoyed an upscale dining experience.
The Great Old House Restaurant
Just a short walk up the street from Fort Young Hotel is The Great Old House Restaurant, an upscale restaurant in the heart of downtown Roseau. Located on the top floor, the dining room is warm and inviting.
Dinner Menu
There are many options to choose from.
Starters:

• Fish Cakes

Mains:
• Hot Wings and Fries
• Chicken Fingers and Fries
• Tuna (grilled or fried)
• Grilled Chicken Breast
• Tamarind Jerk Pork
• Spare Ribs

• Fish Salad
• Chicken Pasta (Alfredo, garlic butter, tomato)
• Garlic Butter Shrimp
Sides:
• Grilled Potato
• Sautéed Vegetables
• Eggplant
• Basmati Rice

• Breaded Plantains

• Spinach
What I Ate
For my starter, I ordered the Fish Cakes. They were more of a fritter than a cake, but tasted delicious. Crunchy on the outside, and tender on the inside
For my main course, I ordered the Tamarind Jerk Pork with a side of rice. The pork was tender, and the sauce was very flavourful. There was a good level of spice with just the right amount of kick, but it wasn’t overbearing. Just the way I like Jerk dishes.
One of the guests in my dinner party ordered the Garlic Butter Shrimp with a side of breaded plantains and sautéed vegetables. It looked amazing!
I had a hard time deciding between the Tamarind Jerk Pork and the Garlic Butter Shrimp. I wish I could have ordered both, but I was very happy with the selection I made. The Tamarind Jerk Pork was very different than anything else I had eaten while in Dominica.
