Shop Orillia and Area: Hock Shop, Vera Victoria Vignettes, and Fanboy. #OntLakeCountry

16 Feb 2018
Whenever we are visiting Ontario’s Lake Country, we love to visit local shops. There are so many quaint stores in Downtown Orillia, Downtown Barrie, and surrounding areas. Here a few we shopped at on our last visit.
Hock Shop Orillia
We love to stop in at local pawn shops when we are travelling. It’s amazing what people get rid of, or no longer have use for.
Hock Shop Orillia has a great selection of power tools, jewellery, musical instruments, sports equipment, electronics, movies, video games, and so much more.
We found a couple of Xbox One games to add to our library. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure!

Vera Victoria Vignettes
Located beside Amiche Restaurant and Social House is a quaint antique store called Vera Victoria Vignettes. After lunch at Amiche, we stopped in to look around. We noticed when we walked in that there was a 50-70% off sign. There were some really cool items, including several albums my parents would love, and lots of really cool collectible ornaments.
On our way out, I noticed this Christmas Tree in the window. My Mom has one of these, and Wendy’s Grandma had one as well. Wendy asked the attendant if it was also part of the 50-70% off sale. She said yes. For $22.50, we got this beautiful ceramic Christmas Tree! What a score!

Fanboy
Boardgames, action figures, t-shirts, pop vinyl, pop animation, statues, maquettes and so many other goodies that will make your inner fanboy squee with delight… that is Fanboy. Rachel and Lauren loved going through all of the pop vinyl figures. The Metallica ones were a nice find, as I have never seen those before.
Rachel added “Gargamel & Azrael” from The Surfs to her Pop Animation collection.
The guys at Fanboy are very personable, friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. If they don’t have it in stock, they will order it for you. When they realized that it was my daughters who were looking to buy, they concentrated their attention to helping them find what they were looking for, without making them feel unwanted. That’s customer service, and one of the main reasons I love to shop local at smaller stores like this, especially when traveling.

Shop Orillia and Area
If you are in the area, give these three gems a visit. There are also so many other awesome stores in Orillia and surrounding areas, we are always finding something new. Support local… Shop Orillia!
Cheers,
Big Daddy
