Rocking October Weekends with Red Box and Free One Night Movie Thursdays!

22 Oct 2014
Everyone always looks forward to Friday’s. It’s the end of the work week, and the unofficial start to the weekend. Let’s face it… you get to work on Friday morning, and all you can think about is 5pm.
Thursdays need love too!
With more than 1,350 automated kiosks across all 10 provinces, Redbox is Canada’s largest DVD “rentailer”. Throughout the month of October, Redbox is offering customers a free one-night DVD rental each Thursday at all Redbox kiosks across Canada.
“What’s better than getting a quality movie when you want it, where you want it, all for free?” said Kate Brennan, Senior Communications Manager at Redbox. “We’re inviting our customers in Canada to get a headstart on the weekend by picking up a free one night movie rental at Redbox. Whether you’re a returning customer, or new to Redbox, we hope you’ll enjoy a movie on us!”
No Membership
One of the things I disliked about renting movies from old video stores was remembering my membership card. With Red Box, there is no membership. No card to misplace.
How do I receive my free movie from Redbox?
To receive your free one night DVD rental on Thursdays in October (Oct. 9, 16, 23 or 30), just visit a Redbox kiosk, enter promo code THURSDAY at checkout, and swipe a valid credit card to cover any additional nights you hold onto the DVD. If you return your DVD by 9 pm local time the following day, there won’t be a charge.
Great selection!
Redbox offers a variety of unedited genres in both DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats. New movies are added to Redbox on Tuesdays. Each Redbox is stocked with anywhere from one to a couple dozen copies of each movie.
Renting from Redbox is so easy!
We have a Redbox in our local convenience store, just a few minutes from home. Whenever we want to watch a movie we don’t currently own, we head over and pick one up. We have never yet been disappointed with selection or availability, but if you want to reserve a movie, you can do that in advance.
Earlier this week, the girls wanted to watch a movie, so we headed over to 7-11, where our local Redbox is located.
Once the girls figured out what movie they wanted to rent, I let them do the process, to show how easy it is to rent from Redbox.
They found the movie they wanted to rent…
They added it to the cart…
Then they entered in my email address, where a receipt will be emailed. Redbox thinks green! Note: this step is optional.
Once the email is entered, I stepped in to pay. Once paid for, the movie pops out of the right hand side…
And the girls are happy! And you know what happy daughters mean, right? Happy Daddy!
Returning the movie is just as easy!
You can return your movie selection to any Redbox location. It doesn’t have to be the one you rented from.
A screen prompting you to insert disc comes up…
Insert disc with the white arrow facing the Redbox…
Voila! You are done. As long as you return the movie on time, you are good to go. If there are additional charges for additional days, it will prompt you to pay those upon return.
For additional info or questions, redbox.ca has a great FAQ section.
Where is my closest Redbox?
You can find the nearest Redbox location online at www.redbox.ca/locations. It’s also easy to reserve a movie online at www.redbox.ca.
How much does it cost to rent movies from Redbox?
DVDs are $1.50 a day + tax
Blu-ray Discs are $2.00 a day + tax
Video games are $2.50 a day + tax
