A quick trip up north!
I recently had the opportunity to travel to the Orillia area with a group of blogging and social media friends for a few days of winter fun. Over the course of the trip to Ontario’s Lake Country, we went into a sugar bush to see how maple trees are tapped, fat biked along cross country ski trails, snowshoed into a forest, went tubing down a ski hill, and had a great time exploring downtown Orillia and some of the restaurants and museums the town has to offer. Some of these places were pretty remote, but I wanted to share pictures and videos with Wendy and the girls, who weren’t with me on the trip.
Orillia? No worries!
At no point did I need to worry about cell coverage or not being able to communicate with work or home, because my Rogers service worked everywhere I went. I was able to hang out with friends, enjoy the day’s activities, and post about my adventures as they happened.
I could post pictures to Instagram and Twitter of all the fun as it happened – and it was all part of my plan. I had service wherever I was roaming, from my hotel room to the ski hill to the sugar bush, all at the speeds I’ve come to expect from Rogers.
I may have been on the road, but I was still on call for work and needed to be able to access the internet reliably while I was exploring Ontario’s Lake Country. I knew that I would be able to use my Share Everything plan data and work from my phone, tablet, or even my laptop if needed, even if wi-fi wasn’t available or was spotty in its coverage. Knowing that Rogers had me covered, on a fast, reliable, and secure mobile network allowed me to accept the invitation to the trip, confident I wouldn’t miss anything.
Times have changed, and so has mobile coverage.
It’s funny to think about how quickly things change. Ten years ago, many of the places we visited wouldn’t have had coverage at all, and if they had, it would have been sparse at best. I’d have been walking all over the ski hill trying to find the sweet spot with more than a bar of signal coverage. Now, however, I had great coverage everywhere we went – whether it was in the sugar bush, snowshoeing on a trail, or just relaxing at the hotel.
Many of the places we travelled in the Orillia area had LTE coverage, though inside some of the buildings when we were in more remote areas, the signal dipped a little. This was still more than fast enough to post pictures, updates, and make calls if needed. My Rogers phone and Share Everything Plan allowed me to stay connected everywhere I went, and I got to have a great getaway with some awesome people without missing a thing.
Orillia bound?
So the next time you’re travelling to Orillia, or anywhere for that matter, be sure to check out the Rogers coverage map prior to your trip. Whether it’s close to home or further abroad, travel easy with the knowledge that you’re covered with Rogers.
Cheers,
Big Daddy
