Florida Keys: A Room With a View at Oceans Edge Key West
25 May 2018
Oceans Edge Key West
Have you ever been to a place so beautiful and relaxing that you never wanted to return home? Where the view was amazing, the food was delicious, the drinks were refreshing, and the accommodations were perfect? Ya, that was my stay at Oceans Edge Key West Hotel & Marina.
Located on Stock Island, just minutes from Key West, Oceans Edge is a luxury resort with 100% ocean view rooms, six heated pools, and an open-air restaurant and bar. Every detail of Oceans Edge has been well planned, from the large balconies, and the gingerbread mouldings indicative of Key West conch architecture. Very Caribbean, paired with Victorian influences.
Guests can enjoy complimentary one hour rentals of paddleboards, kayaks, and bikes. Other rentals and excursions are available through the kiosk in the front lobby for an additional cost. Wifi is available throughout the resort free of charge to guests.
I stayed in an Ocean King Guestroom. The beds are big and comfy, just how I like them. Big pillows, soft white sheets, and a nice thick comforter.
On either side of the end are night tables with a lamp on each. A power outlet is available on the side of the night table facing the bed. This is great for those who use a CPAP sleeping machine, and need an outlet close to the bed. There are also USB outlets to charge any device you may have. That means you only need the charging cables!
The washroom is large and very modern. There is a vanity with a raised sink, a glass enclosed stand-up shower, and an elongated toilet.
A large comfortable chair sits between the bed and balcony doors, with a small table.
The view from every room is of the ocean. My room looked directly south, towards Cuba.
There is a desk and chair, a large flatscreen TV with cable, and a mini fridge for your personal items. There is also a mini bar / sundries station, where you can purchase alcoholic (wine or beer) and non-alcoholic drinks (soda, juice, and water), snacks, aloe cream, sunscreen, and a universal phone charger.
Some of the rooms face the marina, with a view of 3 of the 6 pools at Oceans Edge.
There are 6 pools. Yes, 6. As guests, you have access to them all. They are not very large, but if the resort is busy, you can go to one that is not.
There is plenty of seating around the pools. From loungers, to tables with chairs, to these comfy couches with heaters for cooler nights, you are sure to have a relaxing time poolside.
Oceans Edge has a beautiful marina. The 111 wet slips are able to support vessels from 25’ to 140’, with 12’ deep water access.
There is a new fully-covered dry-rack barn storage facility with 52 dry storage slots and 24 hour security. A marine forklift service is available to move your vessel to and from dry-storage.
