Family Winter Fun: Lunch and Ice Skating at Fern Resort!
12 Feb 2018
Spending quality family time is important to us, whether it is camping in the summer, or doing some fun activities in the winter.
The dining room at Fern Resort is warm and welcoming. It makes you feel like you are home, and not in a restaurant. The menus are filled with family favourites, and there is a lunch buffet and dessert table as well.
What we ate
Our awesome server started us off with some of Fern Resort’s famous rolls and honey…
Lauren ate pasta from the lunch buffet…
Rachel ordered the mac and cheese…
Wendy ordered a minestrone soup to start…
and had chicken breast with fries and beans for her main…
I ordered steak frites…
And we all had ice cream sundaes for dessert…
Our lunch was amazing, and our server was awesome. So awesome, that he was able to get us some of Fern’s famous rolls to go!
The 1.5km ice trail is fairly new to Fern Resort. It winds it’s way through the forest, and is quite smooth.
Your skating experience starts at Mary Lou’s Ski Shop, where you pick up your skates, unless you have your own.
Once you have your skates, you head over to the heated skate hut, put on your skates, and then walk out of the other side of the hut right onto the skating trail. Rachel did really well for her first time skating outdoors.
The trail is very scenic, and well groomed. Lauren had a lot of fun, even though she spent a to of time falling!
Along the way, there is a fire pit where you can stop and warm up…
Wendy and the girls had an amazing time ice skating on the trail at Fern Resort!
Our short visit was a lot of fun, and has us wanting to go back for a full weekend to experience more of Fern Resort in the winter.
