Part of doing winter well is enjoying it… going away to places where you can have fun in the Winter. We did exactly that on Family Day long weekend.

Wendy, the girls, and I were off on the Monday, so we decided to escape to Ontario’s Lake Country for a long weekend getaway to Bayview Wildwood Resort in Severn Bridge, just north of Orillia.

Ontario’s Lake Country is one of our favourite places to travel to, as it is a beautiful part of Ontario, and only 90 or so minutes from our home in Oakville.

Our room in Walton House was an A Schedule room. The rooms are affordable, and very compatible to other resorts in Ontario’s Lake Country. Bayview Wildwood old train station

History May Pass You By…

”In the early 1900’s most of our guests travelled by train to get to our report village. Captain Frank Stanton, one of the forefathers of the resort, actually gave the land close to the property to the railway company to construct both the tracks and the railway station, as seen in the picture below. Every day the train would arrive at the station bringing new guests excited to begin their holidays on Sparrow Lake. If during your stay with us you hear the sound of the train on the tracks just remember… decades of history have passed you by.“

The train travelled by Bayview Wildwood Resort several times during our stay, and we couldn’t help but feel nostalgic every time we heard it go by.

Bayview Wildwood Resort: Two Thumbs Up!

Our stay at Bayview Wildwood Resort was both fun-filled and very relaxing, two things we really needed in a family getaway. We were able to relax in our rooms, enjoy great meals in the dining room, and participate in some great winter activities. Looking out over the ice covered lake, we dreamed of returning in the summer to experience Bayview Wildwood Resort in warmer temperatures.
