2015 has started off great for me. I have started the year the lightest and the healthiest I have been in a decade. I feel great, and am quite happy with my health journey progress. But I am not done yet.

A balanced lifestyle

With the changeover to a healthier lifestyle, I have cut a lot of unhealthy options from my life. One of the first things to go? The sugar in my Tim Hortons steeped tea and coffee. As well, I have not consumed soda pop in 16 months. That is huge for me, as I used to drink 4-5 cans a day.

But there needs to be balance. I haven’t completely cut everything out. You need to treat yourself. You need balance.

More good to love

I really love the food at Tim Hortons. Their sandwiches are amazing, and the soups are delicious. I’m not even gonna get into their steeped tea… oh that cup ‘o hot goodness. I try and stay away from the sweets, although, I do treat myself on occasion.

Nutrition, health and wellness

I’m really excited to announce that Tim Hortons has launched a new nutrition, health and wellness platform.

As I mentioned earlier, I love my Timmies steeped tea, as well as their soups and sandwiches. But did you know they have a whole lotta healthy options on their balanced menu as well?

• Egg White Turkey Sausage Breakfast Sandwich
• Greek Yogurt Parfait, made with fat-free yogurt (containing 13 grams of protein)
• Freshly prepared Homestyle Oatmeal with Mixed Berries
• Soups made with a full serving of vegetables (like Harvest Vegetable and Cream of Broccoli)
• 12 Grain Bagels (with 6 grams of fibre)
• Soothing Green Tea
• Wholegrain Muffins (with no artificial flavours or colours)

As part of the Nutrition, health and wellness platform, Tim Hortons has introduced a fully revamped nutrition calculator, to fully equip you to make balanced choices on the go.

Some of those updates include:
▪ “My Tims Meal”, which allows you to build your own Tim Hortons meal, and see the total nutrition information for your entire meal, and each specific menu item.
▪ Updated search functionality, which allows you to search for your favourite Tim Hortons product, with full nutrition insight, including allergens (wheat, milk, soy) and dietary considerations (low fat), on top of standard nutrition information.
▪ Customization, which allows you to adjust your Tim Hortons meal – for example, removing lettuce, adding tomato, or exchanging the standard sauce for your favourite one on Timmies made-to-order sandwiches. You can see the nutrition information change instantly as you customize your meals.

Whether you are looking for a treat, a wholesome meal, healthy options, or one of their many beverages, Timmies has you covered.

Tims Nutrition Ambassadors

Hayley Wickenheiser and Tristan Thompson have teamed up with Tim Hortons as Nutrition Ambassadors. Together, they want to show guests the benefits of balance and its role in living well.

Tristan Thompson, professional basketball player and long-time Tim Hortons fan, is known for his on-court “double-double”. Tristan has been a Tim Hortons guest longer than he’s been shooting hoops.

Hayley Wickenheiser is a professional hockey player and mom who trusts Tim Hortons while on-the-go. She is regarded as one of the best female hockey players in the world. When Hayley’s not on the ice, she’s a community leader, mentor, accomplished business woman, and most importantly a mom. Tim Hortons has been a part of Hayley’s personal and professional life as long as she can remember. Maybe that’s why she chose 22 as her jersey number – an unconscious tribute to the iconic Tim Hortons double-double.
