There’s something magical about staying in an historic hotel. Maybe it’s the sense of being transported back in time or the feeling that you’re part of something grander than yourself. Either way, it’s an experience that everyone should have at least once.

And what better place to have that experience than in New Orleans? The Big Easy is full of historic hotels, each with its own unique story to tell.

The International House Hotel in New Orleans is a boutique hotel that offers visitors a unique and luxurious experience. The hotel is located close to the French Quarter in New Orleans and it is one of the oldest hotels in the city. This beautiful Beaux-Arts-style building began as the Canal Louisiana Bank & Trust. Even though the building has been renovated several times over the years, it still retains its original charm. The IHH offers a variety of amenities to its guests, including a fitness room, a small art gallery, and a fleet of beautiful Chatham Plus cruiser bicycles. The International House Hotel is also close to a number of restaurants and bars, making it the perfect place to stay for those who want to experience the best of New Orleans’ nightlife.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HOTEL THE LOBBY

The Lobby

The lobby is an elegant, yet inviting space that is perfect for both formal and informal gatherings. It is decorated with rich tapestries, antique furniture, and a collection of international artifacts. It’s a great place to enjoy complimentary lemon water while waiting for your friends or family, or just relaxing between activities in New Orleans.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HOTEL FRONT DESK

Front Desk

Check-in was quite easy. The friendly staff at the front desk check you in, get you your key card as quickly as possible, and get you on your way. They also give you a couple of complimentary drink tokens that can be redeemed at Loa Cocktail Bar. While the tokens are for their signature welcome drink, I was able to use the tokens for soft drinks.

Checkout was just as simple. Hand over your room keycard, pay for any incidentals, and you are on your way.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HOTEL GUEST ROOM

The Guest Rooms

No matter what kind of traveler you are, International House Hotel has a room that will suit your needs. The standard rooms are perfect for those who want a comfortable place to rest their head after a long day of exploring the city. For those who want a little more space, the suites offer additional square footage and amenities like wet bars and kitchenettes. The penthouses are true luxurious retreats, complete with a private terrace overlooking the French Quarter and the Mississippi River.

The 117 Guest Rooms at International House Hotel offer spa-like bathrooms with large glass showers or tubs, plenty of natural light, and original black and white photography of today’s local music greats.

Guest Rooms come in several shapes and sizes with different amenities depending on your needs:

• Cosmopolitan Corner Suite
• Cityscape Penthouse
• Studio Penthouses
• Cosmopolitan Corner Suite
• Metropolitan Master Suite
• Panoramic Corner King
• Garden King
• King Room
• Queen Room
• Queen Accessible Room
• Rockstar
• Double Room

The Queen Guest Room I was in was quite cozy, but still had a bar fridge and a Carrera marble top desk beside the bed. With so much to offer in New Orleans, you likely won’t be spending much time in your hotel room. So, the coziness of the room was fine as I was just using the room to sleep at night. However, if I was planning on traveling with family, I would definitely reserve a larger room.

All rooms come equipped with Sony LCD TVs, Aveda bath amenities, and signature beds with layers of comfortable plush bedding.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HOTEL LOA COCKTAIL BAR

This chic bar is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of exploring the city. The bartenders at Loa are mixology masters, so you can be sure that your drink will be expertly crafted.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HOTEL LOA MIDDLE LOUNGE AREA

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HOTEL LOA FRONT LOUNGE

You can either sit at the bar or at one of the comfy chairs in the lounge overlooking Camp Street.

Location

The International House Hotel is located at 221 Camp Street in New Orleans, just outside of the French Quarter.
