Faro Blanco Resort & Yacht Club

I had the opportunity to stay at the Faro Blanco Resort in Marathon for a couple of nights on a trip we took to the Florida Keys. We were using the Faro Blanco as a home base while exploring fun activities and great places to eat in Marathon and Islamorada.

The Faro Blanco Resort – Hyatt Place

The hotel portion of Faro Blanco Resort & Yacht Club is operated by Hyatt Place. As we were only using the rooms at the Hyatt to sleep and recharge before heading out for the day, I was just hoping for a comfy bed. I got a whole lot more. Hyatt Place is known for their modern and spacious rooms, with separate sleeping and living areas.

The Hyatt Place’s 3 storey Faro Blanco Resort location has 125 rooms and suites, concierge service, and free Wi-Fi. As well, there is a 24/7 gallery menu and market, where freshly prepared hot foods, desserts, or beverages, can be ordered any time.

The Rooms

I loved my room at Hyatt Place. Overlooking the hotel pool, the well-equipped room had two queen sized Hyatt Grand Beds, a desk and chair, a large swiveling 42” flat screen HDTV…

a dresser and wardrobe, 3-piece washroom, mini-fridge and single-serve coffee maker, and a separate “Cozy Corner” sitting area with a sectional couch, side tables, and an ottoman.

It would be perfect for a family of 4, although the sectional couch could easily sleep two kids, so a family of 6 could work.

Faro Blanco Resort towels

There were plenty of towels, and an extra blanket. The only thing missing was an in-room safe to keep your valuables.

The Pool

The heated pool at the Faro Blanco Resort Hyatt Place is a good size, accessible, and very refreshing. You can relax and sunbathe on the loungers surrounding around pool. There are a few tables with chairs as well.

Breakfast

Each morning, there is a buffet set up in the dining area at the front of the hotel. Breakfast consists of eggs, bacon, sausages, a variety of breads and bagels, donuts, fruits, cereals, yogurt, jams and other spreads, coffee, tea, and fruit juices.

Faro Blanco Resort restaurant seating

There is plenty of seating inside, if you want to stay cool, or on the covered patio if you want to enjoy the beautiful Florida Keys breeze.

Faro Blanco Resort bakery cafe and market

Gallery Market

There is also a Gallery Market, where you can purchase packaged grab ‘n go items, from snacks and sandwiches to pastries and sweets, including brownies, cookies, a slice of key lime pie or cheesecake, and beverages like coconut water, soda, and juices. Premium beer & wine, and Starbucks coffee, are available at the intimate Bakery Café. The Gallery Market and Bakery Café are located right beside the front desk, so you can order your favourite treat or beverage 24 hours a day.

Faro Blanco Resort lighthouse

The Faro Blanco Yacht Club and Marina

The iconic lighthouse has been drawing visitors to Marathon since the 1950s.

Faro Blanco Yacht Club and Marina has 74 slips with easy access to the Atlantic. Boat owners enjoy the world class amenities at the full-service marina. This state-of-the-art facility is convenient, whether it is your home port, or a stop along your journey.

Lighthouse Grill

Situated close to the marina, the Lighthouse Grill serves up food featuring fresh local ingredients. It’s unique waterfront atmosphere is perfect for a casual lunch, a sunset dinner, or cocktails with friends. If it is just drinks you desire, the veranda bar is a great place to relax with your favourite cocktail while watching the boats at the marina.
