Date Night at Boston Pizza!

Date Night at Boston Pizza!
29 Jul 2014

Sharing is caring!

I love my daughters. I love spending quality time with them… both together, and individually.

Every once in a while, I like to take them out for “date nights”, and always leave where we are going up to them.

They both have their favourite restruarants, based on whether it is for lunch or dinner.

As Wendy had plans with Rachel, Lauren and I planned a “date night”. Lauren’s choice for dinner… Boston Pizza.

Lauren loves Boston Pizza. She loves to colour, and when they bring her the crayons and colouring book, she giggles like crazy!

She noticed there was something new about the colouring book. She said, “Daddy, it’s their 50th anniversary!”

Boston Pizza celebrates its Golden Anniversary

(From the Press Release): This summer Boston Pizza turns 50, and to celebrate, Canada’s largest casual dining chain has launched a contest giving away 50 pizza parties (valued at $2,500) – one for each of its 50 years serving Canadians. In addition, from now until August 17, Boston Pizza is serving up a special anniversary menu featuring classic favourites such as Popeye Pizza and the Sombrero Pizza, as well as new food innovations including Cubano Pizza, Californian BLT Pizza and the Chocolate Doughcano.

“For half a century, we’ve celebrated birthdays, winning goals, team championships and long weekends with our loyal guests,” said Steve Silverstone, executive vice president of marketing, Boston Pizza International. “This summer we’re excited to have our guests celebrate our big 5-0 with us.”

Every in-store or takeout/delivery receipt includes a code which can be entered online at BPPizzaParty.com (Contest closed) for a chance to win one of 50 pizza parties. Winners will have the chance to customize their party theme, choose the menu and invite up to 30 friends.

Boston Pizza’s 50th Anniversary menu features two classic dishes: Popeye Pizza made with spinach, roasted garlic, mozzarella and feta cheese and the Sombrero Pizza, a Mexican-inspired combination of refried beans, crushed chilies, taco beef and mozzarella, topped with iceberg lettuce, fresh diced tomatoes, cheddar and a drizzle of ranch dressing.  Brand new menu items include Californian BLT Thin Crust Pizza topped with mozzarella, bacon, balsamic-dressed arugula, fresh diced tomatoes and guacamole mayo; Cubano pizza, a sandwich-inspired pizza made with sliced ham, pulled pork, mozzarella, spicy honey mustard and red onions; Chocolate Doughcano, creamy chocolate mousse with chunks of cheesecake, caramel, toffee, pecans and almonds wrapped in Boston Pizza’s signature pizza dough.

IMG_0652

Guests can also toast Boston Pizza’s 50th anniversary all summer long with a pint of Golden Anniversary Pale Ale specially crafted for Boston Pizza by Molson Coors or one of two new mojitos – the Arctic Mojito with white rum, mint and fresh lime or Lemon Tea Mojito, a non-alcoholic mix of muddled lemon and fresh mint, iced tea and a splash of soda.

Guests will also have a chance to celebrate Boston Pizza’s anniversary in stores on August 12, when all individual-size pizzas will be sold for $5 at all Boston Pizza locations across the country.

“From heritage menu items to new innovations in pizza, a signature anniversary beer and $5 Indy pizzas on our birthday, we’re giving guests the chance to celebrate with us throughout the summer in a big way,” said Silverstone.  “Then, we’ll celebrate with them at their very own pizza party featuring Boston Pizza food and maybe even the epic Pizza Cake for a few lucky contest winners.”

We had a wonderful dinner!

I got to try the new Hail Kale Caesar Salad. Romain lettuce, kale, puff wild rice, quinoa, bacon, parmesan cheese, and caesar dressing. It was phenomenal!

As well, I had a small Kung Pao Chicken Pizza. Roasted garlic with chilli flakes topped with garlic hoisin chicken, pizza mozzarella, red and green papers and red onions. Finished with wonton strips, green onions, cilantro and drizzled with garlic hoisin sauce. Mmmmmm… It was delicious!

IMG_0665

I paired that with the Golden Anniversary Pale Ale, specially crafted for Boston Pizza by Molson Coors. It was nice and smooth!

IMG_0658

It was a toss-up for me… between the Kung Pao Chicken Pizza or the Sombrero Pizza. I guess I know what I am having on our next visit!

Lauren got her usual… pasta and caesar salad.

Cheers,
Big Daddy
