Are Dental Implants Right For You? Here Are Four Reasons to Consider Them!

Sharing is caring!

You’re embarrassed to smile and want to do something about it. Consulting with an expert at North York dentistry resulted in a suggestion that should be considered carefully. The dental expert has affirmed that you’re a prime candidate for dental implants and highly recommends them. Why go with this option rather than opting for dentures? Here are four reasons that will help you understand what’s behind the expert’s recommendation.

Maintaining the Shape of Your Gums

Once the last of your natural teeth are gone, there’s not anything left to maintain the shape of the gums. As they begin to shrink inward, the bottom part of your face also changes. Unfortunately, the changes are not likely to be to your liking.

Dental implants effectively fill the spaces where your real teeth were once found. They will help prevent the shrinking and shifting that happens when there’s no longer any natural teeth. Your jaw line will continue to look as it did in years past.

Nothing Slips Out of Position

How many times have you heard denture wearers complain about dealing with dental adhesives? Along with being somewhat messy, adhesives don’t always hold well. That’s especially true if you bite into something or rush a bit with applying the adhesive before leaving the house in the morning.

You’d rather have a solution that works a lot like real teeth. One of the perks of dental implants is that they don’t move or shift at all. Once they are embedded in the gums, they will be just as stable as your teeth were in years past.

Caring for Implants is Simpler

Your daily plan for dental hygiene is familiar if you go with dental implants. You will still brush after meals and use mouthwash when you like. If you do want to floss, invest in a product that’s designed for use with dental implants.

You’ll still go in for annual checkups and even have a cleaning at least once a year. In short, the care and maintenance on the implants will be almost like taking care of real teeth.

They Last Longer Too

If you’re still not convinced that implants are the best choice, consider how long they will last. Unlike dentures that have to be replaced after several years, you could keep the same implants for the rest of your life. Even if you damage one of the caps, that just means replacing that one cap and leaving the implant in place. Over the years, you could either pay for four or more sets of dentures, or you could pay one time for implants and never have to deal with replacing the whole set again.

The final choice is up to you. Consider the impact on your appearance, the function, and the ease of care. Factor in the long-term savings and it’s easy to see why so many people choose this option. If you have any questions about the different types of implants, talk with your dental professional. Once you have all the answers to your questions, it will be easy to make the decision that’s right for you.
