Sharing is caring!

Normally, when the girls get home after school, they are hungry, and ready for their afternoon snack. They usually reach for goldfish crackers or wheat thins.

In the past few weeks, we noticed a change.

Daddy, can you make us a smoothie?

They have noticed how much Wendy and I are enjoying our daily smoothies. We put in all kinds of goodness in the ones we make.

I am still experimenting with different fruits and vegetables. My go to recipe is my Big Daddy Spinach Smoothie. This is what I have been having for my pre and post workout drink for the past few months. It tastes great, and is packed with a whole lotta awesome.

Well it was time to make a custom one just for them. Rachel picked out the ingredients she wanted to use.

Apple, Mango, Peach and Strawberry Smoothie

Ingredients:
• 2 whole apples (cut in half – including seeds and core)
• 2 cups mixed mango, peaches and strawberries
• 6 cups Almond Fresh almond milk

Instructions: Put it all in the Vitamix. Set it to the Smoothie option. Press the toggle switch. Watch it pulverize.

If you are not using a Vitamix, you may need to cut the apple into smaller pieces.

Yummy!

Rachel and Lauren loved it! They polished off 40 ounces themselves. When Wendy arrived home, she saw it and had the rest. I was able to sneak in a sip. It was pretty darn good (and you could not tell there was an apple core with seeds in there).

Wendy and I are so happy with the results we have seen in our health journey. The girls asking for healthy drinks instead of store bought yogurt drinks or smoothies that contain extra sugar and other preservatives makes me really happy. It also helps to justify the expense of investing in an awesome blender that can make smoothies like they do at smoothie bars. An added bonus… both girls are now starting to read labels.

If you try this recipe, please let me know how yours turns out.

Cheers,
Big Daddy
