Go Beyond: The AKASO V50 Pro 4K Action Camera

Disclosure: I received an AKASO V50 Pro for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
Action Cameras For The Girls
A couple of years ago, I picked up a couple of inexpensive action cameras for Rachel and Lauren, and they have had a lot of fun using them while we are camping, on vacation, or on a sponsored trip. They love helping me capture footage. The cameras are not the best quality, but for the price, they do an okay job.
The AKASO V50 Pro 4K Action Camera
When the folks at AKASO reached out to see if I would like to review the V50 Pro action camera, I happily agreed. We do a lot of fun activities and getaways, regardless of the season.
The AKASO V50 Pro comes in at almost 4 times the cost of what I paid for those inexpensive action cameras I got for the girls, but is considerably less expensive than a comparable GoPro. I was looking forward to putting it to the test.

AKASO recommends using a Samsung 64GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Micro SD Card for the V50 Pro Native 4K Action Camera. A Micro SD card is not included with the V50 Pro. The Micro SD card will need to be formatted in the action camera before using it to record footage.
Taking phitos with the V50 Pro is quite simple. Make sure you have the selector on the camera icon, and you are ready to shoot.
The picture quality that comes out of this camera is wonderful. Photos are pretty crisp, and even though I shot in overcast weather, the pictures turned out great.
You can adjust many features for shooting photos: resolution, time lapse interval, time lapse duration, photo burst, delay timer, date stamp, scene mode, picture quality, and long exposure.
I was filming on a windy and overcast day, and was still very impressed with the quality of the video. The above video was recorded in native 4k / 30FPS. You can also film in 2.7K / 30FPS, 1080P / 60FPS, and 720P / 120FPS. Using a lower quality setting will make smaller videos.
You can adjust many features for shooting the video you want: resolution, codec, image stabilization, video file length, time lapse interval, time lapse duration, fast motion movie, wind noise reduction, scene mode, date stamp, and auto low light.
The V50 Pro comes with 2 batteries and a charger, that is powered by a Micro USB cable. The battery lasts approximately 90 minutes of constant use. If you are able to shut the V50 Pro off between photos, it will last longer.
I found when the battery was removed for more than a few minutes, the date setting resets. Although this is not a big issue unless you are relying on the date stamp for your footage and pictures (which I do not), a workaround is to charge one battery at a time and just rotate them, with one battery always remaining in the camera.
I have tried a few action cameras, and the AKASO V50 Pro ranks as one of the best. It is significantly less expensive than a GoPro, but offers comparable quality. There are less expensive action cameras out there, but the quality of photos and videos are heavily compromised. This is not the case with the V50 Pro.
The build quality is superb, comes with a wonderful assortment of accessories, an extra battery, shoots native 4K video, has great picture quality, and decent sound. The AKASO V50 Pro uses the same mounting hardware as a GoPro, which means there are a lot of accessories available.
You can pick up your own AKASO V50 Pro on Amazon.ca.
