Alive Again in the 2022 Wagoneer Series II

When I was a little kid, I had a friend named John who lived across the street. His family of 5 was very outdoorsy and loved to go camping. I remember seeing them come back from camping trips and taking all of their bags and gear out of the back of their vehicle. They were able to fit so much in the back without taking away from passenger space, and even strapped some of their weatherproof items on the roof. It was incredible how much stuff they were able to take with them. That vehicle was a first-generation Wagoneer.
The second generation was a smaller version of the first gen, which was becoming popular in the 80s. The third-gen followed suit on sizing. While the second and third gens were nice, they were just not the same as that Wagoneer I would see fully loaded in the driveway across the street.
Recently, I had the opportunity to take a fourth-generation 2022 Wagoneer Series II for a week-long test drive. This was very reminiscent in size to the original Wagoneer, but much more advanced in many ways.
2022 Wagoneer Series II
Let’s take a closer look at the 2022 Wagoneer Series II.
Exterior
The 2022 Wagoneer Series II has been designed to make a bold statement. The Series II features striking horizontal and vertical front lines, giving it a bold look reminiscent of its classic ancestor. It features an imposing black grille surrounded by etched chrome trim with prominently displayed headlights that add to its regal impression. Painted bumpers and body side moldings bring out relaxing hues while a distinctive front fascia offers added visibility and elegance. All models boast 20-inch wheels with impressive wheel and tire combinations that complete the awe-inspiring exterior package. Together they all create one cohesive piece of automotive art that cannot be denied.

Interior
The interior of this vehicle is nothing short of luxurious – imagine yourself behind the wheel with sumptuously soft leather wrapped around your hands and glossy premium plastics that feel like a treat for all senses. It’s more sophisticated than you would find in some high-end cars.
The cockpit is extremely comfortable – something that Stellantis has always been good with. All necessary controls are within reach of the driver.
This is a large SUV with larger wheels wrapped in aggressive rubber, so there is some minimal road noise. But once you find your favourite tune on the sound system, you’ll be listening to the music, to the noise.

Power
The Wagoneer Series II is an incredibly powerful vehicle. With its off-road capability and impressive size, this large SUV has the power to tackle just about any landscape — especially for explorers and adventurers. As such, it contains an engine designed for durability and output. The 8-speed transmission allows for a smooth ride regardless of the terrain. Our Wagoneer Series II test vehicle came equipped with a 5.7 Litre HEMI V8 engine which is perfect for those who want no compromise in power and stamina.
The only thing I was hoping for was a larger towing capacity, considering this is the same powertrain that is in the Dodge Ram 1500.

The 2022 Wagoneer Series II is an incredible driving experience, with advanced control and cutting-edge powertrain technology. Its suspension system ensures both a pleasant ride and great cornering performance, so you can easily take on sharp turns without feeling shaking or instability from your vehicle.
Its sleek body shape allows for smooth nimble turns that make this a comfortable ride even at higher speeds. No matter what kind of driving you do, the Series II delivers confidence behind the wheel every time you hit the road. You’ll be feeling comfortable and in control no matter where your journey takes you.
All this technology combines to create an experience that’s both exhilarating and comfortable at every turn.

Fuel Economy
If you’re ready to hit the road, the Wagoneer could be a great option – but it’s worth noting that this bad boy packs quite an appetite. Although it isn’t quite as fuel-efficient when compared with its competitors, this full-size SUV will still get you from coast to coast without too much hassle. While none of its competitors can claim to be eco warriors, the actual mileage figures suggest that when compared side by side with other vehicles in its class, there may just be someone hogging all the snacks.
