11 Questions with… Laura Cannone
1. Elevator pitch… tell us about yourself.
I am one of the creators of Canada’s only kids spa franchise – Glama Gal Kids Spa. Myself and my sister are also The GG Sisters. We considers ourselves to be ambassadors of positivity and inspiration. Also known as as bloggers and influencers, but our description sounds nice.
2. Your spouse/life partner… tell us about him/her.
My husband Dave is a very calm, and easy going kind of guy. We met when I was 16 and he was 19, and have been together since… which is a very long time. He supports everything I do, and from time to time, will add in his two cents too.
3. Your kids… tell us about them.
So I just have one… my little Ella Bella. She loves gymnastics and walks in cart wheels. She loves her Youtube for kids, and I’m helping her learn how to be safe online. Ella isn’t shy and is one of the most confident little humans. Lately, she gets mad at me saying, “mommy get off your phone”. Mommy is working on this.
4. Do you have any family traditions?
One of our family traditions during the Christmas Season is to put up the tree and watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. It is one of the best movies ever made!
5. What have been your biggest challenges as a parent?
Going back and forth on having a second child. So much has happened that has stopped us from having a second child. We struggle daily with “is it too late?” or “should we have another?”. This is a challenge and one of our constant conversations.
6. If you could pick any career in the world for yourself, what would it be, and why?
I guess what I am doing now. I am at my happiest being an entrepreneur and doing my thing.
7. Growing up, who inspired you the most?
My dad. His work ethic and hustle to provide and never take NO for an answer.
8. How do you balance work life and family life?
It’s so easy balancing it all. We have a routine, everything flows, everyone is on track. Nothing ever comes up. We have the perfect balance. NOTTTTTT! There is no balance. Some days are great, and I think I have it together, and some days we are like, “wow, we are spending family time together”. My advice… take each day as it comes.
9. What advice would your “current self” give to your “just about to have my first child” self?
Don’t stress… it’s out of your hands anyways. It will all work out.
10. Has there been a piece of advice you were given about parenting that really stuck with you?
Humble your kids. Don’t give them too much. Try to give them just enough.
11. What advice would you give to new parents?
Make sure you tell your kids daily why you love them, and how much they mean to you.

Stay tuned for our next “11 Questions with…” feature.
Thanks for reading!
“11 Questions with…” is an on-going feature. I will be interviewing parents with the same 11 questions, who like me, live in the digital world. The goal is to examine different perspectives, advice, challenges, and experiences from how people parent their children, and live a successful work / life / online balance.
With all the challenges of parenting these days, we could all use stories from fellow parents, who may have already gone through a similar experience, or were offered advice that you could use.
If you would like to be interviewed for an upcoming edition, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
